The Applied Foreign Languages course is offered by several universities around the world at both the undergraduate and the postgraduate levels.

In 2009, the International Association of Applied Foreign Languages (AILEA) was founded in Paris. The purpose of this association is to create a network between different universities around the world that offer a degree in LEA and to assist those with a plan to create it. AILEA is a space to exchange information about diploma templates, teaching content, relationships with companies, and the development of specific research for this sector.

AILEA is linked to the French Association of Applied Foreign Languages. Every year, an international LEA congress is held in France.
